1. Eikthyr — Meadows (First Boss)
Summoning
- Item: 2 Deer Trophies
- Location: Mystical stone in Meadows
- Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆ (Tutorial boss)
Recommended Prep
- Armor: Any (basic Leather or Rag)
- Weapons: Crude Bow + 100 Fire Arrows (or Flintspear)
- Food: Cooked Meat + Raspberry + Mushroom (~90 HP)
- Mead: None required
- Skills: Run 15+
Attack Patterns
| Attack | Tell | Damage | Dodge |
| Charge | Lowers antlers, paws ground | 30 pierce | Roll sideways |
| Lightning Beam | Head raises, antlers glow | 15 lightning, AoE | Keep moving sideways |
| Stomp | Rears up on hind legs | 20 blunt, small AoE | Roll backward |
Strategy
- Summon at the stone, then immediately run 30m away toward open ground.
- Use the kite-and-shoot method: strafe in a wide circle, firing when he pauses.
- Fire Arrows deal bonus fire damage (Eikthyr is weak to fire).
- When he charges, roll sideways — the timing is generous.
- Dodge the lightning beam by constantly moving sideways; it tracks slowly.
Arena tip: Clear a 50m radius of trees and rocks before summoning.
Stumps and bumps will stop your rolls. Flat ground = easy fight.
Rewards
- Hard Antler (1) — Craft the Antler Pickaxe (first mining tool)
- Eikthyr Trophy — Mount on boss stone for Forsaken Power
- Eikthyr Power — +60% run speed, +60% jump for 5 minutes. Excellent for exploration.
2. The Elder — Black Forest
Summoning
- Item: 3 Ancient Seeds (found in Burial Chambers)
- Location: Mystical stone in Black Forest
- Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Recommended Prep
- Armor: Bronze armor set (or Troll Hide for mobility)
- Weapons: Finewood Bow + 200 Fire Arrows
- Shield: Bronze Buckler (parry root attacks)
- Food: Deer Stew + Queen's Jam + Cooked Meat (~145 HP)
- Mead: None critical, Stamina Mead helpful
Attack Patterns
| Attack | Tell | Damage | Dodge |
| Root Missile | Arms reach forward | 40 pierce | Roll behind pillar |
| Root AoE | Stomps ground | 25 pierce, AoE | Run 10m away |
| Summon Roots | Arms spread wide | Spawns 3-5 rooted enemies | Kill quickly with club |
| Vine Whip | Sweeping arm motion | 35 slash | Roll toward (under arm) |
Strategy
- Prepare the arena: The Elder is all about positioning. Clear a large area and leave 4-5 large rocks or trees as cover near the summon stone.
- Open with Fire Arrows: Shoot 3-4 times, then hide behind cover to avoid root missiles.
- When he summons roots, swap to a club or mace and clear them fast — they slow you.
- The Elder's root missiles cannot pass through solid objects — use terrain aggressively.
- Fire Arrows deal bonus damage. Bring at least 200 arrows.
Advanced strat: Dig a trench around the summoning stone and stand in it.
The Elder's root missiles pass over your head while you shoot safely.
Rewards
- Swamp Key (1) — Opens Sunken Crypts in the Swamp (first iron source)
- Elder Trophy — Forsaken Power
- Elder Power — +10% wood chopping for 5 minutes. Great for base-building sessions.
3. Bonemass — Swamp (Mid-Game Wall)
Summoning
- Item: 10 Withered Bones (from Sunken Crypts)
- Location: Mystical stone in Swamp
- Difficulty: ★★★☆☆ (First real DPS check)
Recommended Prep
- Armor: Iron armor set (fully upgraded)
- Weapons: Iron Mace (tier 3+) — MANDATORY, Bonemass is immune to pierce
- Bow: Finewood Bow + 100 Wood Arrows (for adds only)
- Food: Sausages + Turnip Stew + Deer Stew (~210 HP)
- Mead: Poison Resist Mead (ACTIVE) — Critical for survival
- Mead: Medium Healing Mead (5+ on hotbar)
Attack Patterns
| Attack | Tell | Damage | Dodge |
| Poison Cloud | Belly swells green | 50 poison + DoT | MUST have Poison Resist active |
| Club Slam | Raises club overhead | 70 blunt, large AoE | Roll into him (under the swing) |
| Melee Swipe | Wide arm sweep | 45 blunt | Block or roll toward |
| Throw | Hurls poison blob | 40 poison | Side-step, don't roll |
Strategy
- Poison Resist is non-negotiable. Without it, the poison cloud kills you in 3 seconds.
- Use the Crypt pillar method: Find a Sunken Crypt near the spawn point. Stand inside the entrance doorway — Bonemass cannot enter. Hit him through the doorway, step back to avoid poison.
- With an open-air fight, constantly strafe clockwise — his club slam has a longer wind-up on his right side.
- Only use blunt weapons. Slash and pierce do near-zero damage.
- When he summons blobs, either ignore them (focus Bonemass) or one-shot them with the mace.
- The fight takes 5-8 minutes. Bring 5+ Medium Healing Meads.
💀 Don't fight Bonemass at night — Swamp spawns double at night.
Only summon during daylight. Build a portal 100m away with a roof.
Rewards
- Wishbone (1) — Detects buried treasure (Silver, Muddy Scrap Piles, treasures)
- Bonemass Trophy — Forsaken Power
- Bonemass Power — +50% resistance to blunt, pierce, slash for 5 minutes. Best combat power in the game. Use this for all future boss fights.
4. Moder — Mountains
Summoning
- Item: 3 Dragon Eggs (carry one at a time — encumbers you)
- Location: Mystical stone in Mountains (near Moder's nest)
- Difficulty: ★★★★☆
Recommended Prep
- Armor: Silver armor set (Fenris set also viable — fire resist helps)
- Weapons: Draugr Fang bow (tier 3) + Frost Arrows (or Needle Arrows)
- Melee: Stagbreaker (for the hatchlings)
- Food: Wolf Skewer + Onion Soup + Sausages (~205 HP minimum)
- Mead: Frost Resist Mead (ACTIVE) — The mountain cold on top of Moder's breath is deadly
- Mead: Stamina Mead (5+)
- Special: 1+ Cold resistance item (Lox Cape or Wolf Cape + Frost Resist)
Attack Patterns
| Attack | Tell | Damage | Dodge |
| Frost Breath | Deep inhale, neck rears back | 80 frost, cone AoE | Run perpendicular to breath |
| Ice Shard | Wings fold, shard forms in mouth | 55 pierce, projectile | Roll sideways |
| Swoop | Flies up, dives at you | 60 blunt | Roll at last moment |
| Summon Hatchlings | Lands, screeches | Spawns 3-5 wolf hatchlings | Kill with Stagbreaker AoE |
Strategy
- Arena prep is critical. Clear the entire mountain top of rock formations and trees. Moder lands on terrain — flat ground = easier target.
- Build shelter. Place a small hut with a campfire + workbench + portal near but not directly at the spawn. Frost damage is constant.
- Frost Arrows deal bonus damage. Needle Arrows are a good alternative.
- When Moder takes flight, keep moving in a wide circle — her frost breath has a fixed cone.
- When she lands (after enough arrow damage), switch to melee if you have high HP. Hit the head for bonus damage.
- Kill hatchlings immediately — they stagger you and can push you off the mountain.
- Best strategy: Dragur Fang + Frost Arrows from range. Only melee when she lands and you have 200+ HP.
🏔️ Mountain tip: Moder's nest often has a natural rock overhang.
Use it as shelter from frost breath. Place a campfire inside.
Rewards
- Dragon Tear (1) — Craft the Artisan Table (unlocks Plains-tier crafting)
- Moder Trophy — Forsaken Power
- Moder Power — Favorable wind for sailing for 5 minutes. Enables fast ocean travel.
5. Yagluth — Plains
Summoning
- Item: 5 Fuling Totems (from Fuling villages in Plains)
- Location: Mystical stone in Plains (5-fingered hand structure)
- Difficulty: ★★★★☆
Recommended Prep
- Armor: Padded armor set (fully upgraded, level 4)
- Weapons: Blackmetal Sword (tier 3) or Porcupine (club)
- Shield: Blackmetal Tower Shield or Serpent Scale Shield
- Bow: Draugr Fang + Needle Arrows (150+)
- Food: Serpent Stew + Lox Pie + Blood Pudding (~280 HP)
- Mead: Fire Resist Mead (reduces meteor damage significantly)
- Mead: Medium/Major Healing Mead (10+)
- Mead: Stamina Mead (5+)
Attack Patterns
| Attack | Tell | Damage | Dodge |
| Meteor Shower | Raises both arms, red glow | 90 fire per meteor, AoE | Run laterally, watch shadows |
| Fire Beam | Crosses arms, then sweeps | 100 fire/s, beam | Run behind Yagluth |
| Ground Slam | Fists to ground | 75 blunt, large shockwave | Roll into him (under the slam) |
| Laser Sweep | Head down, mouth opens | 80 fire, wide arc | Run behind a pillar |
Strategy
- Fire Resist Mead is mandatory. Without it, meteors one-shot you.
- Use the fingers. The summoning "hand" has 5 stone finger pillars — use them as cover from meteors and the laser sweep.
- Stay close to Yagluth. His fire beam can't hit you if you're directly underneath or behind him.
- The meteor attack has a 3-second casting time — as soon as you see his arms rise, sprint behind a finger pillar.
- Best approach: melee from behind. Two-handed sword (Krom later) or Porcupine work well. Hit twice, then dodge his counter.
- When he summons the laser sweep, run around a finger pillar — the beam can't pass through stone.
- The fight takes 10-15 minutes. The key is patience — don't get greedy with hits.
🥏 Pro tip: Bonemass power (+50% physical resist) stacks with Fire Resist
Mead. Pop Bonemass power when Yagluth is low HP for the final push.
Rewards
- Fuling Totem (5 used for summoning, none as drop) — Progression gateway
- Yagluth Trophy — Forsaken Power
- Yagluth Power — +50% resistance to elemental damage for 5 minutes. Best for Mistlands.
6. The Queen — Mistlands
Summoning
- Item: 9 Seal Breakers (crafted from 5 Black Cores + 2 Refined Eitr each)
- Location: Infested Citadel (large Mistlands structure)
- Difficulty: ★★★★★
Recommended Prep
- Armor: Carapace armor set (fully upgraded)
- Weapons: Krom (two-handed sword) or Mistwalker (one-handed) or Demolisher (two-handed club)
- Magic: Staff of Protection (MUST have — shield bubble saves you)
- Food: Misthare Supreme + Honey Glazed Chicken + Bread (~300 HP)
- Mead: Major Healing Mead (10+), Stamina Mead (10+)
- Mead: Fire Resist Mead (reduces breath damage)
Attack Patterns
| Attack | Tell | Damage | Dodge |
| Acid Spit | Head rears back, green glow | 80 poison + DoT | Roll sideways |
| Tail Whip | Tail curls up | 70 blunt, wide arc | Roll toward her |
| Claw Swipe | One claw reaches forward | 60 slash | Block or parry |
| Phase Beam | Pauses, orbs glow | 100 magic per tick | Run behind pillar |
| Summon Seekers | Screeches, spawns 3-5 | 3x Seeker soldiers | Kill or kite — Prot Staff helps |
| Enrage | Glows red at 50% HP | +50% damage, speed | Kite and heal |
Strategy
- Leverage the arena. The Infested Citadel has multiple levels and pillars. Use height. The Queen struggles when you're on a different elevation.
- Staff of Protection is the single best item for this fight. Re-cast the bubble every time it pops.
- Stay on the upper ledge. When you first enter, there's a catwalk. Fight from here — it limits the Queen's mobility.
- Krom (two-handed sword) with heavy armor is the meta melee build. Heavy attack staggers the Queen.
- Magic users: Use Bubble + Ember Staff (fire damage, Queen is weak to fire and spirit).
- When she summons Seekers, bubble yourself and kite — don't stand and fight adds.
- The enrage phase at 50% is the real boss fight. Pop Bonemass power + Major Healing Mead. Kite wide circles, punish when she pauses.
🏆 Optimal gear check:
- Carapace armor Level 4
- Mistwalker sword Level 4
- Staff of Protection Level 3
- 300+ HP, 250+ Stamina
- Bonemass power active
Rewards
- Queen's Trophy — Forsaken Power
- Queen Power — +100% Eitr regen for 5 minutes. Enables sustained magic usage.
- Unlocks Mistlands crafting tier completion.
7. Fader — Ashlands (Final Boss)
Summoning
- Item: 8 Fader Fragments (from Ashlands fortresses)
- Location: Pyre of Fader (Ashlands central structure)
- Difficulty: ★★★★★ (Hardest in game)
Recommended Prep
- Armor: Ask armor set (fully upgraded, level 4)
- Weapons: Two axes (Blood Red Axe or equivalent), Ashlands-tier bow
- Food: Ashlands Pie + Spicy Bread + Fish Wrap (~300+ HP) or stacked serpent combos
- Mead: Fire Resist Mead (ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY)
- Mead: Major Healing Mead (15+), Stamina Mead (10+)
- Mead: Tasty Mead (for stamina regen bursts)
- Bonemass Power — Still the best combat power
Attack Patterns
| Attack | Tell | Damage | Dodge |
| Fire Storm | Arms rise, sky turns red | 120 fire, large AoE | Hide behind central pillar |
| Lava Geyser | Stomps ground, cracks appear | 100 fire, area denial | Move constantly |
| Greatsword Combo | Draws greatsword, 4-hit combo | 90-120 slash per hit | Parry first hit, dodge follow-ups |
| Summon Ashlings | Roars loudly | Spawns 6+ Ashlings | AoE weapon to clear |
| Meteor Rain | Creates five fire portals above | 80 fire per meteor | Sprint between pillars |
| Final Frenzy | Below 25% HP, all attacks faster | +50% attack speed | Kite, heal, careful |
Strategy
- The arena has a central pillar — this is your lifeline. Always know where it is. Use it for fire storm and meteor rain cover.
- Dual axes are the recommended weapon type. Fader is weak to slash and spirit damage.
- Never stand still for more than 2 seconds — lava geysers spawn at your feet.
- His greatsword combo is parryable — learn the timing on the first swing, then punish after the 4-hit sequence ends.
- Use the pillars to break line of sight during fire storm. The storm tracks you but cannot pass through stone.
- During Final Frenzy (25% HP), stop trying to DPS and focus on survival. Kite wide circles, heal, and only attack during safe windows.
- Bonemass power + Fire Resist Mead stacked = manageable damage. Re-apply mead during pillar breaks.
🔥 Fader is the ultimate DPS check. If you can't kill him fast,
your food or gear isn't ready. Farm Ashlands for Ask armor level 4
and stockpile 20+ Major Healing Meads before attempting.
Rewards
- Fader Trophy — Forsaken Power
- Fader Power — +100% damage to all enemies for 3 minutes. The best offensive power in the game.
- Credits / Game completion — You have conquered Valheim.
