🌟 Minecraft Endgame Guide
Data version: Minecraft 1.21 | Last updated: 2026-07
You've got diamond gear, a decent base, and you've survived your first creeper explosion. Now what? The real game begins in the Nether, the End, and the Deep Dark. This guide covers everything from your first Nether portal to end-game mega-farms.
🔥 The Nether: Your First Steps
Portal Setup
| Material | Amount | How to get |
| Obsidian | 10 | Pour water on lava source blocks (bucket + lava pool) |
| Flint & Steel | 1 flint + 1 iron | Break gravel for flint, smelt iron |
| Optional: Diamond pickaxe | 1 | Obsidian takes 9.4s with diamond, 0.3s with beacon haste! |
Portal Shape
Standard: 4 wide × 5 tall (10 obsidian)
Cheap: 4 wide × 4 tall (10 obsidian, optional corners)
Lazy: 2 wide × 3 tall (6 obsidian — mobs can barely fit)
Nether Preparation Checklist
- [ ] Full iron armor or better (gold armor for piglin trades)
- [ ] At least 1 stack of cobblestone (build bridges, block lava)
- [ ] Fire resistance potion or potion base + magma cream
- [ ] Bow (kill ghasts from range)
- [ ] Water bucket (won't work in Nether — leave it home)
- [ ] Pickaxe (nether gold ore, ancient debris)
- [ ] Golden apple (emergency healing)
- [ ] Crafting table + extra obsidian (repair portal if broken)
🏰 Nether Fortress Loot
| Loot Item | Chest Chance | Best Use |
| Blaze Rod | 100% (from blaze) | Brewing stand + Eyes of Ender |
| Nether Wart | 100% (from fortress garden) | Potion base |
| Gold (ingot + sword) | 58.5% | Piglin trading |
| Diamond | 19.4% | Tools / armor |
| Iron ingot | 39.9% | Gear |
| Flint & Steel | 41.4% | Secondary ignition |
| Obsidian | 22.6% | Extra portal material |
| Enchanted book | 3.5% in chest | Random lucky find |
Blaze Rod Farming
- A Blaze Spawner is in every Nether fortress
- Build a 2-block-high kill chamber (blazes are 1.8 blocks tall — can't escape)
- Looting III sword = up to 4 rods per blaze
- 1 blaze rod smelts 12 items or brews 3 potions
🥚 Eyes of Ender & The End Portal
Crafting Eyes of Ender
| Ingredient | Amount | Source |
| Blaze Powder | 1 | 1 blaze rod → 2 blaze powder |
| Ender Pearl | 1 | Enderman drop (rare, use Looting III) |
Finding the Stronghold
- Throw an Eye of Ender — it flies toward the nearest stronghold
- Follow it. When it hovers and drops, dig down
- You need 12 Eyes of Ender to activate the portal (10–14 thrown to locate)
End Portal Layout
E = Ender Portal Frame (must face inward)
Place Eyes of Ender in every frame (12 total)

💡 Pro Tip: Bring an extra 4–6 Eyes of Ender. Sometimes portals spawn with 0–1 eyes already filled, and the 12th slot is hidden behind silverfish infested stone!
🐉 The End: Dragon Fight
Dragon Fight Phases
| Phase | Dragon Action | Your Goal |
| 1 | Circling, fireball attacks | Break all End Crystals on obsidian towers |
| 2 | Perching on portal | Hit dragon with bow/sword when perched |
| 3 | Repeated perching | Repeat until dead |
| 4 | Death | Huge XP drop + Dragon Egg spawns |
End Crystal Locations
Each obsidian tower has 1–2 crystals on top. Most are caged in iron bars. Some towers have an iron bar cage — bring a pickaxe.
Bed explosion trick: Placing and detonating a bed in The End deals massive damage to the dragon (~100 HP). Use this to speed up the fight.
Dragon Kill Loot
| Item | Amount | Use |
| Dragon Egg | 1 | Decoration (mine it with a piston) |
| XP Orbs | 12,000 (~70 levels) | Enchant immediately |
| End Gateway | Opens | Teleports you to outer End islands |
| Elytra | 100% (from End Ship) | Flight! |
🪶 Elytra & Fireworks
Finding the Elytra
- Enter the End Gateway (throw an Ender Pearl into the portal beam)
- Fly/long-jump to outer End islands
- Find an End Ship (floating boat structure near End Cities)
- Elytra is in an item frame at the front of the ship
Elytra Stats
| Stat | Value |
| Durability | 432 (survives ~7.2 hours of flight) |
| Speed | Up to 33 m/s with rockets (player walk = 4.3 m/s) |
| Rocket boost | 1 firework per ~2 seconds of boost |
| Best enchantment | Unbreaking III + Mending (never breaks) |
Firework Rocket Crafting
| Recipe | Output |
| 1 paper + 1 gunpowder | 3 rockets (flight duration 1) |
| 1 paper + 2 gunpowder | 3 rockets (flight duration 2) |
| 1 paper + 3 gunpowder | 3 rockets (flight duration 3) — best for elytra |
💡 Pro Tip: You can hold a Totem of Undying in your off-hand while flying. If you crash into a wall at high speed, the totem saves you. Wear Feather Falling IV boots too!
💎 Post-Dragon Progression
Priority After Beating the Dragon
| Step | Goal | Why |
| 1 | Elytra + rockets | Infinite flight mobility |
| 2 | Shulker boxes | Portable storage (find End Cities) |
| 3 | Mending books from villagers | Repair everything forever |
| 4 | Beacon (kill Wither) | Haste II for insta-mining stone |
| 5 | Wither Rose farm | Black dye + decoration |
| 6 | Perimeter (slime + mob farm) | Massive loot production |
Beacon Setup
| Item | Tier 1 | Tier 2 | Tier 3 | Tier 4 |
| Blocks needed | 9 | 34 | 83 | 164 |
| Effect range | 20 blocks | 30 blocks | 40 blocks | 50 blocks |
| Primary effects | Speed, Haste | + Resistance, Jump Boost | + Strength | + Regeneration |
Best beacon combo: Haste II (main) + Regeneration or Speed (secondary)
🃏 The Deep Dark & Warden
The Deep Dark biome is found at Y ≤ 0. It's filled with Sculk blocks, sensors, shriekers, and the terrifying Warden.
Warden Stats
| Stat | Value |
| HP | 500 (❤️×250) — 3× a Wither! |
| Melee damage | 45 (❤️×22.5) — two-shots full Netherite |
| Ranged attack | 10 (❤️×5) — Sonic Shriek (ignores armor!) |
| Detection | Vibration + smell (30 block radius) |
Warden Strategies
| Strategy | Effectiveness | Risk |
| Avoid at all costs | 100% | Minimal — sneak + wool |
| Kill with Soul Speed + bow | 10% | Will die. Not worth. |
| Piston trap + fall damage | 70% | Complex setup, slow kill |
Rules for Sneaking
- Sneak (hold shift) — walking triggers vibrations
- Wool blocks absorb vibrations — place wool walls around your path
- Don't sprint, jump, or throw projectiles
- Break Sculk Sensors with Silk Touch to stop them detecting you
- If you hear the heartbeat sound → leave immediately
