Optimal Sprinkler Layouts

Quality Sprinkler (4 tiles) — 4x4 Grid

[ X ][ . ][ . ][ X ]
[ . ][ S ][ S ][ . ] ← S = Sprinkler, X = Irrigated, . = Empty
[ . ][ S ][ S ][ . ]
[ X ][ . ][ . ][ X ]

Coverage: 8 crops per 4 sprinklers in a 4x4 area. 72 crops per craft grid.

Iridium Sprinkler (24 tiles) — Best Late-Game Layout

[ . ][ . ][ . ][ . ][ . ][ . ][ . ]

Coverage: 24 crops per sprinkler. Space them 6 tiles apart for a full field.

Greenhouse Layout: 116 Crops + 4 Fruit Trees

Legend: S = Iridium Sprinkler, T = Fruit Tree (along edges), crops fill remaining tillable soil.

This layout maximizes the greenhouse's 12x10 interior. Four fruit trees in the border spaces (the two wood planters on the sides and the two on the bottom). 116 crop tiles in the center.

The Ancient Fruit Wine Empire

This is the single most profitable activity in Stardew Valley.

Setup Steps

Step What To Do Why
1 Find Ancient Seed (artifact spots, fishing treasure, bugs) Donate to Museum → get Ancient Fruit seeds + Seed Maker recipe
2 Plant first Ancient Fruit in greenhouse One plant produces forever (Spring-Summer-Fall in greenhouse)
3 Use Seed Makers on every harvest Each ancient fruit → 1-3 seeds (avg 2)
4 Fill greenhouse with 116 Ancient Fruit 1 harvest per week = 116 fruit
5 Build 116+ Kegs (outside) Place in big sheds for space efficiency
6 Process all fruit into wine Base wine = 1,650g. Aged = 4,950g
7 Build cellar casks Age wine to iridium quality (2 seasons)

Weekly Output

Setup Output Weekly Profit
Greenhouse (116 plants) 116 Ancient Fruit 0g (unprocessed)
116 Kegs 116 Ancient Fruit Wine 191,400g
Cellar aging (x3 multiplier) Iridium Wine (33 per week rotation) 163,350g/week ongoing

Pro Farming Tips

  1. Seed Maker abuse: Put every low-quality crop through the Seed Maker. It averages 2 seeds per crop, and you can get Ancient Seeds as a rare bonus (0.5% chance).
  2. Junimo Huts: After completing the Community Center, buy Junimo Huts from the Wizard. They auto-harvest your crops in a 17x17 radius. Place 1 hut per field quadrant.
  3. Giant crops: Cauliflower, Melon, and Pumpkin can grow giant if planted in a 3x3 contiguous block. Use the hoe to break them for 15-21 crops instead of 9.
  4. Fertilizer persistence: Deluxe Speed-Gro persists on multi-harvest crops (blueberries, cranberries) for the entire season. Apply once, benefit all season.
  5. Trellis plan: Green Beans, Hops, and Grapes block player movement. Plant them on the edge of your field or leave 1-row gaps between trellis rows.
  6. Winter prep: Fill the greenhouse by winter of Year 1. Without it, money stops in winter — focus on mining and upgrading tools instead.
  7. Irrigation upgrade timing: Basic sprinklers are nearly useless. Rush to Quality Sprinklers (Farming Lv6) by summer Year 1. Iridium Sprinklers (Farming Lv9) should be your goal by Year 2 spring.
