🗺️ Island Type Overview

🟢 Small Islands

Small islands are randomly generated and respawn as you sail. They are quick to visit and provide basic resources. Marked with a green icon on the Receiver. No story progression. Each has seagull nests with eggs. Some may have a single goat. Underwater reefs around the island contain scrap, metal ore, and copper ore.

Typical visit: 2–5 minutes. Great for early-game resource grinding.

🟡 Large Islands

Large islands are fixed locations and do not despawn once visited. They are marked with a yellow icon on the Receiver. Large islands have: - Tameable animals (goats, llamas, cluckers) - Treasure dig spots (use Shovel) - More abundant and diverse resources - Larger underwater reef systems - Higher-tier ore deposits

Typical visit: 10–20 minutes. Essential for animal capture and mid-game resource needs.

🔴 Story Islands

Story islands are fixed progression locations that advance the narrative. They are marked with red icons on the Receiver and must be visited in order (each gives coordinates to the next). These islands feature: - Unique puzzles and environmental challenges - Hostile enemies (not just Bruce) - Unique blueprints not obtainable elsewhere - Journal entries revealing the backstory - Critical progression items and equipment unlocks

Typical visit: 30–90 minutes each. Some require multiple trips (especially Balboa and Tangaroa).
