DST Boss Database
A comprehensive reference for every boss in Don't Starve Together, organized by category. Tables are DataTable-ready — sorting and search work out of the box.
Seasonal Bosses
These giants spawn on a seasonal timer unless you delay them with a Bearger / Deerclops effigy or the Celestial Portal.
Deerclops — Winter Giant
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 4,000 |
| Damage | 75 (AoE, 60 AoE radius) |
| Attack Period | 3 seconds |
| Insanity Aura | -400 / minute |
| Freezing Aura | Yes (slow) |
| Spawn | Night of day 30+ (Winter), or first Winter day for new players |
| Location | Player vicinity |
Loot: 1 Deerclops Eyeball, 8 Meat, 1 Deerclops Fur
Kite Strategy: Bait a swing → hit 3 times → back off. Repeat. Deerclops's AoE can destroy chests and structures — lure away from base.
Recommended Gear: Ham Bat + Log Suit + Football Helmet. Eyebrella for rain immunity.
Pro Tip: Deerclops destroys structures — fight far from base. The Eyebrella is the best rain hat for Spring.
Bearger — Autumn Giant
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 6,000 |
| Damage | 100 (AoE ground pound) |
| Attack Period | 4 seconds |
| Spawn | Day 2–4 of Autumn (day 11+ on follow-up years) |
| Location | Player vicinity |
Loot: 8 Meat, 4 Bearger Fur, 1 Bearger Figure (Blueprint)
Kite Strategy: Lure Bearger into a forest or pig village — he will destroy trees/pigs, dropping tons of wood and meat passively. When fighting directly: bait the ground pound (frontal AoE cone), run behind him, hit 4–5 times, repeat.
Recommended Gear: Hambat + Marble Suit + Football Helmet. A grass suit works if kiting well.
Pro Tip: Bearger's ground pound flings items from inventory. Drop anything fragile before engaging. Use him to clear a whole forest for free.
Moose/Goose — Spring Giant
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 4,000 |
| Damage | 75 (peck) / 150 (charge) |
| Attack Period | 2.5 seconds |
| Spawn | First 5 days of Spring |
| Location | Near the mosaic biome / herding |
Loot: 4 Meat, 2 Down Feathers, 4 Moslings (if nest is left alone)
Kite Strategy: Stay at range — Moslings (mini versions) spawn if you damage her. Use ranged weapons (boomerang, blow darts, fire staff). Kill Moslings first, then kite Moose/Goose between charges.
Recommended Gear: Blow Darts / Fire Staff + Log Suit. A walking cane helps dodge charges.
Pro Tip: Leave a nest alone for 4 days to get 4 Moslings — each drops 2 Down Feathers (used for Weather Pain, a top raid tool). Don't kill all Moslings or you lose the feather farm.
Dragonfly — Summer Giant
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 27,500 |
| Damage | 75 (melee) / 300 (lava AoE) |
| Attack Period | 2 seconds |
| Enrage | Below 12,500 HP (faster, more AoE) |
| Spawn | Day 3–6 of Summer |
| Location | Dragonfly Desert |
Loot: 8 Meat, 1 Dragonfly Scale, 1–2 Gems (Red/Blue), 1 Lavae Egg (if pan flute used)
Kite Strategy: Equip a pan flute — put Dragonfly to sleep immediately. Build a wall of endothermic fire pits to manage lavae. Kite horizontally: swing → dodge → repeat. Under 12,500 HP she enrages — use ice staves to freeze-lock.
Recommended Gear: Thulecite Crown + Magiluminescence + Ice Staff. Weather Pain is highly effective.
Pro Tip: Use the pan flute at the very start so you can build a containment arena. Dragonfly Scales craft the Scaled Furnace — infinite fuel, best cooking station in the game.
Antlion — Summer Sand Giant
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 2,500 (surface) / 2,500 (cave sinkhole) |
| Damage | 100 (melee) / 150 (sand spike AoE) |
| Attack Period | 3 seconds |
| Spawn | Day 3+ of Summer (if you pick up trinkets) |
| Location | Oasis Desert surface OR caves at sinkholes |
Loot: 8 Meat, 1 Antlion Mandible, 1 Desert Stone, Blueprint(s) for Desert Goggles / Sandstone
Kite Strategy: Antlion's patterns are telegraph-heavy. Dodge sand spikes (3 waves), then close distance for 4 hits. On phase transitions, Antlion spawns sinkholes — run to dodge the falling sand AoE.
Recommended Gear: Football Helmet + Log Suit + Ham Bat. A cobblestone road helps dodge sinkholes.
Pro Tip: Ignore the summer surface version — it's optional. The cave Antlion protects sinkhole collapses. Feed Antlion trinkets (not Sammy) to delay sinkhole collapses.
Raid Bosses
Raids are multi-stage fights that require preparation: armor, healing, and arena setup. These are DST's hardest bosses.
Bee Queen
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 22,500 |
| Damage | 60 (melee) / 80 (stinger) |
| Attack Period | 3 seconds |
| Enrage | Spawns Grumble Bees on HP thresholds |
| Spawn | Bee Queen Hive (Bee Biome) — needs hammer to spawn |
| Location | Bee Biome (usually in deciduous forest) |
Loot: 4–7 Honeycomb, 1 Bee Queen Crown, 1 Bundling Wrap BP, Royal Jelly, Gems
Kite Strategy: Build a campfire wall arena — 4 endothermic fires spaced tight — and zigzag between them. Grumble Bees burn on contact. Bring a Weather Pain to clear Grumble waves.
Recommended Gear: Thulecite Crown + Night Armor + Dark Sword. Healing salves / pierogi. A Star Caller's Staff heals Grumble Bees (doesn't help you) — avoid using it.
Farming Tip: Bee Queen Crown + Magiluminescence + 4x lazy foragers = AFK honey farm. The crown is the best head-slot in the game for combat.
Klaus
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 10,000 (Klaus) / 2,500 (Red Gem Deer) / 2,500 (Blue Gem Deer) |
| Damage | 150 (melee) / varying (magic attacks with gems) |
| Attack Period | 3 seconds |
| Spawn | Klaus's Sack (random position in Deciduous forest, Winter) |
| Location | Deciduous Forest (Winter) |
Loot: 4–8 Meat, 1 Krampus Sack (rare), 1 Klaus's Sack, Gems, Ornate Chest items (bundles, lazy explorer, etc.)
Kite Strategy: Kill the gem deer first — without them Klaus has no magic attacks. Focus the Red Gem Deer first (fire damage is more dangerous). Klaus's melee is tankable with good armor.
Recommended Gear: Dark Sword + Thulecite Crown + Night Armor. Pan flute to separate the deer. Walking Cane helps dodge the magic AoE.
Pro Tip: Klaus drops a Krampus Sack! Best chance of any source. Use a Deconstruction Staff on the sack at the end for extra loot.
Toadstool
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 52,500 |
| Damage | 100 (melee) / poison spore AoE |
| Attack Period | 3 seconds |
| Enrage | At 50% HP — spawns boomshrooms & spore clouds |
| Spawn | Mushroom ring in the Caves |
| Location | Deep Caves (blue/red/green mushroom forest ring) |
Loot: 8 Meat, 1 Toadstool Cap, Old Bell (if no Ancient Guardian killed yet), or 1–2 Gems
Kite Strategy: Use Weather Pain — it shreds Toadstool through spore clouds. Bring a lot (7+ and fling-o-matics to pre-plant). Fight in an open area so boomshrooms don't block you. When boomshrooms appear, weasel away and use gunpowder (20+) to clear the phase.
Recommended Gear: Thulecite Crown + Night Armor + Dark Sword. 7+ Weather Pains. Gunpowder (optional). Heals: pierogi + honey poultice.
Pro Tip: Toadstool has the highest base HP in DST. Bring a group or use the sleep + gunpowder strat (4 gunpowder = 5,000 damage).
Ancient Guardian / Fuelweaver
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 10,000 (Ancient Guardian) → 16,000 (Fuelweaver) |
| Damage | 100 (melee, Guardian) / 100 (woven attack, Fuelweaver) |
| Attack Period | 2.5 seconds |
| Phase 2 (Fuelweaver) | Weaves shadow hands, bone cage, heals on shadows |
| Spawn | Ancient Guardian: labyrinth → Fuelweaver: platform after Guardian |
| Location | Ruins (Ancient Gateway) |
Loot (FG): 4–6 Meat, Shadow Heart, Shadow Atrium, Bone Armor, Bone Helm, Fuelweaver Figure
Kite Strategy (Ancient Guardian): Bait → hit 2–3 times → dodge. Guardian is straightforward. Save the Old Bell if dropped.
Kite Strategy (Fuelweaver): The hardest fight in DST. You need an arena with Lureplants (distract shadows) and Weather Pains (clear bone cage while he's in it). Bait the bone cage → wait for his hand slam → dodge → hit his Woven Body 3–4 times. The fight is a rhythm game — don't get greedy.
Recommended Gear (FG): Thulecite Crown x2 + Night Armor + Dark Sword. + 4+ Weather Pains + Lureplant bulbs. Healing: pierogi, honey poultice, jellybeans.
Pro Tip: Fuelweaver's bone cage can be destroyed with a Weather Pain. His shadow hands are distracted by Lureplants. Never fight him in a cramped ruins corridor — clear an arena.
Celestial Champion
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 30,000 (total across 3 phases) |
| Phase 1 | 10,000 HP — flying, projectile attacks |
| Phase 2 | 10,000 HP — grounded, melee combos |
| Phase 3 | 10,000 HP — empowered, all attacks |
| Damage | 100–200 (varies by phase and attack) |
| Spawn | Celestial Altar (Moon Island) — requires Celestial Tribute |
| Location | Lunar Island (Moon Quay biome) |
Loot: 4 Meat, Celestial Orb, Enlightened Crown Shard, Moon Rock, Gems
Kite Strategy: Each phase has a different pattern. - Phase 1: Stay under the Champion (it can't hit you point-blank with projectiles). - Phase 2: Bait the spin attack, dodge, hit 3 times. Watch for the line-rush. - Phase 3: Combines both — focus on dodging. Enlightened Crown fragments drop and help with planar damage.
Recommended Gear: Void Cowl + Brightshade Armor + Dark Sword (or Planar weapons). Brightshade Staff is excellent here.
Pro Tip: Bring a Star Caller's Staff — it lights the arena and heals sanity during the fight. Celestial Champion is required for the rift endgame content.
Mini-Bosses
These are not seasonal or raid bosses, but pose significant threats and drop valuable loot.
Spider Queen
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 2,500 |
| Damage | 80 (melee) |
| Attack Period | 2 seconds |
| Spawn | Level 3 Spider Den left alone too long |
| Location | Spider biomes / anywhere with spider nests |
Loot: 4 Meat, 2 Spider Eggs, 1 Spider Queen Silk, Glands, Silk
Strategy: Fire Staff is the counter — one hit stuns her and burns the spiderlings. Kite: charge, hit 2–3 times, retreat. Clear her spawns with aoe (sleep darts + gunpowder optional).
Pro Tip: A captive Spider Queen can be moved to a safe location and used as a renewable silk farm (if caged with walls).
Treeguard
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 5,000 (Living Log) / 7,500 (Totally Normal) / 10,000 (Spooky) |
| Damage | 100–150 (varies by size) |
| Attack Period | 3 seconds |
| Spawn | Chopping trees — chance increases with trees cut |
| Location | Forest biomes |
Loot: 3–6 Living Log, 1 Monster Meat (per size), Pine Cones
Strategy: Plant pine cones nearby — Treeguards calm down when they see you replanting. If fighting: bait → hit 2–3 times → dodge. Fire deals extra damage to Treeguards.
Pro Tip: Treeguards are renewable Living Log farms. Don't kill them — let them guard your forest and only fight when needed.
Poison Birch (Birchnut Treeguard)
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 3,000 |
| Damage | 80 (melee) / poison effect |
| Attack Period | 2.5 seconds |
| Spawn | Chopping Birchnut Trees in Autumn |
| Location | Deciduous Forest |
Loot: 2–4 Birchnuts, Twigs, Logs
Strategy: Bait → hit 2 times → retreat. Poison effect deals 2 damage/sec for 60 seconds — antivenom or waiting it out works. Use Log Suit to reduce damage.
Pro Tip: Birchnut Treeguards only spawn in Autumn. They're much weaker than regular Treeguards.
Krampus
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 200 |
| Damage | 100 |
| Attack Period | 2 seconds |
| Spawn | When you kill innocent creatures (naughtiness > 30) |
| Location | Player's vicinity |
Loot: 1 Monster Meat, 1 Charcoal, 1 Krampus Sack (1% drop chance)
Strategy: Krampus is fragile — 2–3 hits from a spear kills him. The challenge is making him spawn: kill birds, rabbits, or Pengulls to accumulate naughtiness. Wait for nighttime for the spawn.
Pro Tip: Krampus Sack (14 inventory slots) is the most valuable item in DST. Farm during Winter nights with a bird trap + kill cycle for best odds.
Malbatross
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 3,000 |
| Damage | 100 (melee) / wave splash |
| Attack Period | 2.5 seconds |
| Spawn | Ocean — near Malbatross nest / floating debris |
| Location | Open ocean (swimming) |
Loot: 4 Meat, 2–3 Malbatross Feathers, 1 Malbatross Bill
Strategy: Boat fight — bring a Cookie Cutter-armored boat or Cookie Cutter Cap to reinforce. Kite: sail alongside, hit when she surfaces, dodge waves by sailing perpendicular. A second boat helps as a platform.
Recommended Gear: Boat + Sail + Rudder + Anchor. Use a Boomerang or Blow Dart to aggro. Dark Sword + Log Suit.
Pro Tip: Malbatross Bill + 2 rope + 1 twig = Malbatross Sail (105% boat speed, 5% wetness resistance upgrade) — the best sail in the game.
Crab King
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 10,000 (shell) + 12,500 (king) |
| Damage | 75–150 (claw slam, bubble, coral) |
| Attack Period | Variable (shell must be cracked first) |
| Spawn | Ocean — near the Moon Archipelago |
| Location | King Crab shell at sea (must be cracked at the Shell with gems) |
Loot: 8 Meat, Crab King Shell, Pearl Pearl, Gems, Blueprint(s)
Strategy: Crab King requires gems inserted into the shell to crack it. The fight has 5 gem slots — the more gems, the better the loot. He spawns bubbles (insta-kill if trapped) and coral guards. Use a Weather Pain to clear coral. Boat must be armored.
Recommended Gear: Boat with Armored Boat Kit + Cookie Cutter Cap + Dark Sword. Weather Pain. Heals: Jellybeans / pierogi.
Pro Tip: Crab King drops the Crab King Shell — used to craft the Shell Amulet (planar defense). Bring Purple Gems for the shell to maximize loot quality.
Armored Bearger
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 7,500 |
| Damage | 125 |
| Attack Period | 3 seconds |
| Spawn | Post-rift (Rifts active) — replaces regular Bearger |
| Location | Same areas as Bearger |
Loot: 8 Meat, 4 Armored Bearger Fur, 1 Bearger Figure (BP)
Strategy: Same kite pattern as Bearger, but higher damage and HP. Phase 2 adds a shockwave that throws items from inventory. Clear ground before engaging.
Recommended Gear: Brightshade Sword + Void Cowl + Planar armor. Normal weapons do reduced planar damage — bring planar gear.
Scrappy Werepig
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 12,500 |
| Damage | 100 (melee) / 150 (charge) |
| Attack Period | 2.5 seconds |
| Spawn | Rift event — Werepig transformation on full moon with rift active |
| Location | Pig King biome |
Loot: 8 Meat, 1 Scrappy Werepig Tail, 1 Pure Brilliance, Blueprint(s), Gems
Strategy: Phase 1: regular Werepig kite pattern (bait → hit 3→ dodge). At 50% HP, goblin constructs spawn — kill them first. Phase 2: increased speed and charge attacks. Use Brightshade gear for planar damage.
Recommended Gear: Brightshade Sword + Void Cowl + Planar armor. Healing: pierogi.
Pro Tip: Scrappy Werepig drops Pure Brilliance, critical for rift-tier crafting. The tail crafts a weapon that debuffs planar entity defense.
Frostjaw
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 5,000 |
| Damage | 100 (bite) / freezing breath AoE |
| Attack Period | 2.5 seconds |
| Spawn | Ocean — Winter only, near icebergs |
| Location | Frozen ocean biomes |
Loot: 4 Meat, 1 Frostjaw Tooth, 1 Frostjaw Horn, Gems
Strategy: Boat fight with ice hazards. Frostjaw's freezing breath can freeze your boat — bring an Endothermic Fire onboard to thaw. Kite: sail alongside, hit when she surfaces, dodge freezing breath by sailing away.
Recommended Gear: Boat + Sail + Endothermic Fire. Dark Sword. Thermal Stone for body temperature management.
Pro Tip: Frostjaw Tooth crafts the Frostjaw Saddle (freeze-resistant saddle for Beefalo). The horn crafts a freezing weapon that works well in ocean combat.
